On 27th December 2007 participants of the 59th Peace Boat voyage took part in a full-day workshop on sustainable living at the Glebe Community Garden in Sydney. Living Schools is working with Peace Boat to further its objectives to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment. In true Living Schools style the twenty participants got down and dirty, planting native species for habitat, sowing vegetable seeds and establishing a household worm-farm. The aim was to provide real skills that could be applied in the urban environment including food production, energy efficiency, waste reduction and sustainable water management. With an enhanced appreciation of the value of ecology and our place in it, the Peace Boat voyagers left the garden tired but inspired.
